GeoGebra

The first GeoGebra workshop in Ireland took place in St Patrick's College, Drumcondra. It was organised jointly by Maths Education section of the Education Department and the Mathematics Department. It was a pleasure to welcome the facilitators, Markus Hohenwarter (creator of GeoGebra) and Zsolt Lavicza who conducted a stimulating workshop to 18 participants. Pics of the workshop on flickr.

On 23 February 2009, during a GeoGebra session for my course in Geometry, students explored the geometrical interpretation of complex multiplication. The results are given in a paper in MSOR Connections and were presented in a broader context at a lecture in Waterford IT (abstract).

Here are some GeoGebra explorations:

The slope of a line and the areas of rectangles
Seven circles
