Professor Ash Amin 

Ash Amin is an internationally renowned economic geographer, whose research and publications have dealt with regional development and socio-economic inequality in Europe, the social economy of the city, and the socio-political evolution of multicultural and multi-ethnic societies within the European Union.  He belongs to the Geography Department at Durham University. Author of over seventy journal articles and book chapters, he has edited or co-edited nine books, the latest (with Nigel Thrift) entitled Cities: Reimagining the Urban (Polity Press, 2002).  His lecture will draw on his most recent work on the changing cultural identity of Europe.
